Well, we 'fastidious' homo-sapiens have in short order managed to totally trash, pollute, degrade, wreck, spoil, and ravage Planet Earth, which by the way also just happens to be our 'home', you know, the only planet available for humans to live on, so it's no big surprise that we have now in even shorter order, managed to deal 'outer space' in the same fashion. Already we are busy trashing our moon, Mars will be next.
We're just not satisfied until we have destroyed everything we touch. Unfortunately, we are good at destruction, but lousy at repairing, or even cleaning up the things we render useless.
