My 'guess' is that, that is exactly what will happen. Trump, in his own small, isolationist geared mind, see's no need for America to be the 'leader' of any worldly institution, or partner with any World Body, unless there is a personal benefit to himself or his minions who stick to him like fleas on a cur dog.
This will simply be another 'brick' in the 'virtual' wall that Trump, 'The Isolationist', is building around our Nation, and yes, it is 'we' who in the end, will foot that particular bill in more ways than one, and none of which we as a democratic nation can afford to pay.
