"The Bear and The Rabbit"

"The Bear and The Rabbit" by Don Black May 2026

Once upon an undefined time, a gruffy brown bear and a fluffy white rabbit met nose to nose on a narrow mountain trail, and now eye to eye neither scarcely dared to blink. "I am 'Queen Bellableu', the ferocious and very hungry 'Queen of The Mountains! How dare you venture onto, and block my trail little rabbit, I shall now have you for my breakfast", growled the hungry Queen. "Oh, how very opportune for you your majesty", replied the rabbit. "For I am 'Chic Bunny', the 'Wish Giver Rabbit', and I came to give you two wishes of your very own". "Oh yes!" said the Queen Bear, "two wishes...gosh, I wish I knew what to wish for...wait! Now I know! I'd wish to have a true forever friend!" Now, thinking quickly and not wanting to be on the Queen's breakfast menu, and knowing that the rule of the forest is that forever friends do Not eat one another, Chic Rabbit replied, "This is your lucky day Queen Bellableu, for I, Chic Bunny, shall be your true forever friend". And now, with both of Queen Bellableu's wishes granted, and both still hungry, they ventured of together in search of a suitable berry patch for breakfast, and Chic Bunny was Not on the menu.

The moral here is you don't have to be faster than the bear, you just simply have to be smarter.
