'Nope, Praise the lord and pass the Tithe 'plate', Not Here she won't! Ya wanna 'play', ya gotta pay. Yo mommy knew that from day one that if she wants to make a 'date' with Jesus, and pass through those pearly gates, and dance on those streets of gold, she's gotta drop the money in the plate. It ain't cheap gettin' to heaven folks! I don't care if she was Born in the Pulpit, and expired while singing in the choir, if her membership in heaven wasn't paid up, that expired right along with her, Praise the Lord! You see these six hundred dollar glasses I'm wearing, this snappy suit and tie, and these absolutly perfect ivories? Well they don't come cheap either! If you don't tithe like Jesus says you must, then all these necessary things of life have to go back to the store. Now, Ms. Blair, God rest her weary soul, was what we here in our sacred house of the Lord, call a Bench Warmer. She sure could warm that bench, but she left that Plate cold! The only thing that warms that plate is a handful of Tithes! Now we let her coast as long as we could but she was using up the A/C in the summer and hogging the Stove in the winter, and taking up space that could be filled with somebody with deep pockets. And did she ever volunteer to do anything around our church? Never saw it! In fact I don't remember seeing her around here in the last few years. Maybe she Was in a nursing home, but that shouldn't stop her from mailing in her dues like she should have. Just because She was on her deathbed doesn't mean the Postal Service was. Hey, we gotta run this Church like a business, and Sure we don't have to report Anything to the IRS like a Real business, because if we didn't this place would be full of deadbeats and slackers warming those benches and expecting to go to heaven without paying their way in. We need to stay on the good side of Jesus or he's gonna send one of those 'bolts from the blue' and smite the jeebies out of us. That's whay I don't park my new Escalade near the church, you just never know. Now don't run off thinking we didn't consult with the Lord about this here matter, because we surely did! And he told me to tell our congregation, bless their hearts, what his answer was, and he said; that dead deadbeat benchwarmer does Not get a free pass outta hades, and does Not get past 'Go'. So, everybody stop your wailing and drop some jimgle in the plate, you don't wanta miss the big bus to heaven just because you squeezed a nickle to death. Praise the Lord, and pass the Plate!' :/ :/
Pastor Rejects Final Wish Of 93-Year-Old Woman Who Attended Church For 50 Years
A Houston woman says one of her mother’s long-standing wishes was to have her funeral conducted at the church where she was a member for more than 50 years, but the church refused to grant that wish.
Barbara Day recently told KRIV that pastor Walter F. Houston of the city’s Fourth Missionary Baptist Church refused to conduct the service for her mother, Olivia Blair, who died recently at 93.
She said Houston told her that Blair hadn’t tithed enough in the years preceding her death.
“It was like the last insult in the world, there was nothing else that I could do for my mommy but funeralize her in the church that she loved and worshiped all of her life, even as a little girl,” Day said.
Houston declined to be interviewed on camera by KRIV but he did tell the news station that Blair’s membership in the church had lapsed nearly 10 years before she died.
That’s not true, according to Tyrone Jacques who runs the website PimpPreacher.com.
Jacques first reported Day’s story on his website. He also advocated on her behalf to get Houston to change his mind. He says that records indicate Houston buried Blair’s husband in 2007 with a full church service and membership honors — proof that the family was still in good standing with church 7 years ago.
Whether Blair was a member or not, her daughter says she was not well enough in the last two years of her life to attend services or make regular contributions to the church.
“For the last two years, my mother has been in either a nursing home or she’s been in a hospital,” she pointed out. “And the last few months, she was in a coma!”
Jacques points out that at no time during that period did any representative from the church reach out to check on Blair’s well-being.
Jacques also offered to pay to have the funeral conducted at the church but Houston declined.
“Membership has it’s privileges,” Houston reportedly told Jacques.
Day said that, after some searching, she eventually found a church to perform her mother’s funeral but she is still upset it was not done at her home church.
