And WHY Is This 'Needed'??

Yeah, but this 'sounds' a bit Orwellian to me. As for the "password protected" part, Really? "Protected"? Since when was that invented? We're talking 'Government' stuff here, since when did anything pertaining to our government become "protected"? Besides that 'protected'f stuff, why do they feel the NEED, the necessity, to complie this particular data in the first place. Now I'm not tending to being paronoid about this, just concerned that until they fully explain Why they need to collect, and store this information, and what exactly it will be used for, and not 'against', then I will remain skeptical of their supposed intentions, whatever that may be, which is not yet clear. This, at first reading anyway, seems like a major case of 'profiling' journalists, editors, correspondents, social media influencers, bloggers (including myself as a Satirical Blogger), etc, with the possible abuse of the 1st Amend. either now or in the future whenever the government feels that anyone of these have stepped over the invisable debarkation line of 'reporting' the news that they don't want reported, and retaliating against those whom they may deem to be a bit too vocal in what they might report about our government or members thereof. So no, this should not be allowed to stand, not now, not ever. They may do this is Russia, China, North Korea, or wherever else a government feels the need to keep a close eye on their detractors by compiling data about those social media detractors, but it should not be allowed here in the 'free world' where we are supposed to enjoy the 'Freedon Of Speech', 'The Freedom Of The Press", and the very freedom of expression without worry or concern that our words, as long as they are not physically destructive, can be voiced, without fear of governmental retribution. So No, we should just say NO to this little scheme that once enacted, may very well comsume us all in one fashion or another.

Homeland Security is seeking a contractor to compile a list of both professional journalists and "top media influencers," which would likely include bloggers and podcasters, and monitor the "sentiment" they're putting out in public.
